Initié par la République d’Haïti et la Confédération Suisse, le Groupe pour l’éducation en situation d’urgence a officiellement vu le jour le lundi 17 juillet avec la tenue de sa première réunion de haut niveau à l’UNESCO, après plus de six mois de gestation et de travail.

If you want lasting peace, the best investment you can make is in education, said Education Cannot Wait’s Executive Director Yasmine Sherif in an exclusive interview with IPS.

“(This will) make children and adolescents literate, learn critical thinking, address trauma and psycho-social challenges from being victims of a conflict or crisis, develop their potential, and become financially independent,” Sherif said, adding that these were critical skills to participate in good governance of their countries in the future.

In Cúcuta, educational institutions already have better conditions in their facilities

The humanitarian aid organization, World Vision, through the project "Education Cannot Wait" managed to rehabilitate classrooms and bathrooms in educational institutions in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. This was achieved with the support of the Ministry of Education to increase the quality and improve access to education for more than 300 girls and boys belonging to the migrant, returnee and host population.
