Education Cannot Wait (ECW) is the global, billion-dollar fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises within the United Nations.

As a global fund, ECW works to generate greater shared political, operational and financial commitment to meet the educational needs of the millions of children and adolescents affected by crises, with a focus on more agile, connected and faster response that spans the humanitarian-development continuum to lay the ground for sustainable education systems.

ECW was launched to transform the aid system that currently leaves behind millions of the most vulnerable children and youth on the planet. Accountability

Accountability takes place at different levels and depths of the Fund. In addition to accountability for results for crisis-affected communities reached by ECW programmes, ECW is also accountable to its donors and to affected populations – in line with Accountability to Affected Populations principles and under international humanitarian and human rights law.
