Global Citizen NOW is back for a second year with a new agenda for urgent action. The time has always been now to end extreme poverty, and that’s exactly what we’re driving action towards at this year’s NOW summit taking place on April 27 and 28 in New York City. Co-chaired by International Global Citizen Festival Curator Chris Martin and Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman, the two-day event will bring together government leaders, private sector executives, grassroots activists, cultural innovators, philanthropic experts, and leading journalists to set a global agenda for action on the most urgent issues facing humanity and the planet. Participants include Stefan Löfven, Bridget Moynahan, Darren Walker and ECW's Yasmine Sherif.

El Fondo de las Naciones Unidas, que lucha contra la deserción escolar, anunció este miércoles una inversión de 28 millones de dólares en Colombia para programas de apoyo a niños venezolanos, desplazados internos, comunidades indígenas y afrocolombianas. El fondo fue creado en el seno de la ONU para defender la educación en situaciones de emergencia y se denomina ECW, por sus siglas en inglés.

Esta financiación será entregada por medio del Fondo la Educación No Puede Esperar (ECW, por sus siglas en inglés) y se destinará para programas de apoyo a niños venezolanos, desplazados internos, comunidades indígenas y afrocolombianas.

Por medio del Fondo la Educación No Puede Esperar (ECW, por sus siglas en inglés), las Naciones Unidas ha buscado la manera de emplear estrategias contra la deserción escolar. Para ello, el fondo entrega una serie de apoyos, entre ellos económicos, a diferentes países.

La Directora Ejecutiva del Fondo la Educación No Puede Esperar (ECW, por sus siglas en inglés), Yasmine Sherif, anunció hoy que ECW tiene la intención de continuar expandiendo sus inversiones en Colombia. El apoyo de ECW al Programa Multianual de Resiliencia actual supera los US$12 millones, y ha asignado US$12 millones adicionales para la próxima fase de tres años que, una vez aprobada, traerá la inversión total en Colombia por más de US$28 millones.

El Gobierno de Colombia amplía su respuesta educativa a la crisis regional venezolana. La misión de alto nivel de ECW destaca la necesidad de ampliar la respuesta educativa a la crisis de personas refugiadas y desplazadas más grande del mundo. Líderes del Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (Unicef), World Vision, la organización internacional Education Cannot Wait y el Ministerio de Educación adelantan una misión en diferentes instituciones educativas de Norte de Santander, con la implementación de un plan de complementación para el ciclo educativo desde la primera infancia hasta la educación formal.
