Abeba*, a 10-year-old from Ethiopia, had her education interrupted due to conflict in her village.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for granting me this opportunity. My name is Abeba*. I was born on September 22, 2012. I am 10 years old. I live in Ethiopia. I am a grade six student. When I finish my education, I want to become a teacher.

In 2020, there was a conflict in our village. We have lost our livestock and our belongings. My textbooks and exercise books were burned. We were displaced due to the conflict. So I was forced to drop out of school. Being away from school made me disappointed and stressed.

My message to the world leaders is that I wish they work to stop the ethnic conflicts in my surroundings and Ethiopia. I want to see peace secured for citizens. I want to get continued support to finish my education so it can help me to achieve my dream. So far, I have received learning materials. New classrooms are being built in our school. My friends and I enjoy the school meal and clean drinking water provided by ECW. I would like to thank ECW for all the support. I want this support to continue in our community. Thank you for providing all the support.
