Amani*, 12, South Sudan
12-year-old Amani* from South Sudan lost both of her parents to war, which interrupted her education. She dreams of being a teacher.
Dear parents,
My name is Amani*. I dream to become a teacher. It’s my time to teach children. My hope to help the people and teach them and to pass well. Education is the only way for my future life.
When I was 12 years old, I lost my daddy and my mum during the war. So with that I remain an orphan, so no one was taking care. It became very difficult for me to continue to go to school. So I was sponsored by Plan because I wanted to achieve my dreams of being a teacher so that I will help the Pageri people. War is not an easy thing. It made us lose our friends, family, and relatives.
So with God nothing is impossible. I have been in school for 4 years. My sisters and friends taught me how to read and write, which is very hard, but I have interest. Because I have that feeling to teach children I want to make a better future. Education is the key for success in my future.
Education for me is a key. Thank you for helping the girls like me go to school and realize dreams can be true.
