Yasir* is a young refugee from Somaliland who dreams of becoming a doctor.
I take this opportunity to greet international audience.
My name is Yasir*.
I’m eleven years old and has been studying at this school for last three years.
When I finish my schooling, I would like to become a surgeon.
Together my family will live in a new village in Somaliland.
I’m a beneficiary of the Education Cannot Wait programme, implemented by UNICEF and SOYDA local NGO.
The programme has helped attend school and get an education because it introduced the afternoon shift that gave me option. In the morning session I support my parents by herding the family goats.
I also thank the Somaliland ministry of education their support.
My dream is to become a doctor when I finish my education.
My humble request is to allow the continuation of this programme and introduced the afternoon session and options for us.
