Safe to Learn Essay Collection

Schools should be a safe place for children to learn and play, but that is far from the reality for many children. The Safe to Learn initiative and End Violence Partnership, with the support of Education Cannot Wait and partners, published the Safe To Learn Essay Collection to examine and tackle the causes of different forms of violence in and around schools. The collection provides a holistic insight into the problem and its impact – and the solutions. The contributors represent a range of voices and perspectives that include global education leadership, government perspectives (donor and domestic), teachers, youth and civil society.

The collection, launched at the margins of the Transforming Education Pre-Summit, includes an essay by ECW Director Yasmine Sherif as well as pieces by strategic partners such as the UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Girls’ Education, UNESCO, the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, the Global Partnership for Education, among others.
