UNESCO dedicates International Day of Education 2023 to Afghan girls, women
After the Taliban ordered an indefinite ban on university education for Afghan girls, several humanitarian organizations, including Education Cannot Wait (ECW), a United Nations global, billion-dollar fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises called the Taliban authorities in Kabul to revoke their decision to suspend the university education of Afghan women.
Since returning to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban have steadily eroded the rights and opportunities of women and girls, particularly their access to education. But Afghans are not taking the regime's draconian policies lying down, and nor should the rest of the world.

Latest research by Education Cannot Wait shows that 222 million children and adolescents affected by emergencies and protracted crises are in urgent need of education support. This is up from 75 million since similar estimates were made in 2015.

ECW Extends Multi-Year Resilience Programme in Central African Republic with US$40 Million Catalytic Grant
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, December 23, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Education Cannot Wait (ECW) announced today US$40 million in additional funding to extend its Multi-Year Resilience Programme in the Central Africa Republic.
