UN experts: No justification for denial of girls’ rights to education

KABUL (TOLOnews): The UN experts said in a statement said that the “Taliban de facto authorities” have no justification to deny the right to education, on any grounds, including religion or tradition for girls in Afghanistan.
The statement said that the ongoing “denial of girls and young women’s right to education in Afghanistan marks a global nadir in education, impacting an entire gender, a generation and the future of the country.”

Doha hosts crucial talks on future of education in Afghanistan

UN experts have stated that the persistent and illegitimate deprivation of education for girls and young women in Afghanistan represents a worldwide low point in the sector.

Qatar hosted pivotal discussions in its capital on Monday, centred around the future of education in Afghanistan, in a bid to address the numerous challenges plaguing Afghanistan’s education system.

The talks were attended by representatives from Qatar, the Afghan Ministry of Education, UNICEF and the Education Cannot Wait organisation.

Doha: The State of Qatar participated in talks on the future of education in Afghanistan and the challenges and obstacles facing it.

Assistant Foreign Minister HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater with the participation of the CEO of Education Above All Foundation Fahad Al Sulaiti represented Qatar during the talks held in Doha.

A delegation from the Afghan Ministry of Education headed by Education Minister HE Mawlawi Sayyid Habeeb, a delegation of the UNICEF organization headed by UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia George Laria, and the Chief of Strategic Partnerships at Education Cannot Wait Organization Nasser Fakih also participated in the talks.

Education Cannot Wait renouvelle son programme pluriannuel de résilience en Ouganda avec un investissement de 25 millions de dollars en financement catalytique

Le financement total de l'ECW en faveur de l'Ouganda dépasse les 75 millions de dollars. Le nouvel investissement réalisé par « Save the Children » et le HCR en partenariat avec le gouvernement ougandais permettra la scolarisation de 122 000 enfants réfugiés et issus des communautés d'accueil. Un déficit de financement de 180 millions de dollars subsiste alors que les partenaires s'unissent pour faire face à la plus grande crise de réfugiés d'Afrique.
