50 per cent of Learning by Heart’s proceeds will support Education Cannot Wait

New York & London

In celebration of the International Day of Charity today, Education Cannot Wait (ECW) is excited to announce a new partnership with Learning by Heart to continue reaching children and youth in some of the most challenging crisis settings with safe, inclusive quality education.

Through this partnership, Learning by Heart – a platform which provides children and adults in the United Kingdom with educational support while, in turn, helping to widen access to education for young people across the world – has committed to donating half of their proceeds to help further ECW’s mission. Learning By Heart provides online classes in a range of subjects, run by volunteer tutors, in exchange for donations.

The founder of Learning by Heart, Naomi Green said, “After setting up Learning by Heart to provide educational support to students during lockdown, I am thrilled our organization has grown to the point where we are able to partner with Education Cannot Wait. We chose ECW because its mission and values deeply resonate with our own, and our volunteer tutors and management team collectively chose ECW as a partner organization. It is crucial to the Learning by Heart mission, through the provision of accessible tutoring to students in the UK, to subsequently support and facilitate the learning of other students who do not have access to adequate education. We are excited for the future of our partnership with ECW and look forward to working together to help fund quality education around the globe.”

ECW, the United Nations global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises, is honored to have been selected as one of the recipients of Learning By Heart’s proceeds and looks forward to partnering with a platform that shares similar values and prioritizes education for every single child and youth, including those left furthest behind in emergencies and protracted crises.

“With increasing numbers of children and youth affected by armed conflicts, the climate crisis, forced displacement and COVID-19, innovative partnerships are more crucial than ever to fulfill the right of every single girl and boy to access quality education. Learning By Heart’s model of providing learning opportunities at a local level to benefit education at a global level is inspiring. Education Cannot Wait is grateful for their support and, together, we will work to ensure that every child – regardless of the challenges they may face – has equitable access to a safe, holistic education,” said Yasmine Sherif, Director of Education Cannot Wait.

ECW aims to usher in new ways of working towards achieving greater educational outcomes for the girls and boys caught in armed conflicts, forced displacement, climate-change induced disasters and other crises. In doing so, ECW recognizes the value of partnerships with public and private partners, including companies, philanthropists, foundations and campaigns.

To date, ECW’s investments are supporting quality education for over 4.6 million children and youth in some of the worst humanitarian crises around the globe.
